Psychoeducational Assessment
What is a Psychoeducational Assessment?
Psychoeducational assessment provides estimates of an individual's intellectual, or cognitive, abilities and educational achievement levels. Data from this type of evaluation would include background information, educational history, and records and data from tests of intelligence and educational achievement and, at times, ratings tests of attention, behavior/emotions, and adaptive behavior. While learning, not emotional problems, is the primary focus of psychoeducational assessment, behavior/emotional and medical issues may need to be addressed in psychoeducational assessment. A psychoeducational report is a type of psychological report that focuses on assessment and interpretation of educationally related psychological tests and educational tests, including tests of intelligence and cognitive abilities, achievement tests, and tests of behavior and attention.
A Psychoeducational Evaluation can answer the following questions:
-
What is my child's learning style?
-

-
Can my child’s school meet his educational and socio-emotional needs?
-
Why is my child struggling with social skills?
-
Does my child have an attention deficit disorder?
-
What can I do to help my child be successful in the classroom?
-
Should I be concerned about my child worrying or is my child just a little shy and nervous?
-
My child doesn’t look at people when he talks and doesn’t have any friends. Could this be Autism Spectrum Disorder?
